International Cricket Organization
- With the love of Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players each on a field, there was a need for governing body to oversee the affairs of the game. The international cricket council was formerly known as the imperial cricket conference in 1909, comprising representatives from England, Australia, and South Africa. It took up its current name in 1987 and its headquarter is in Dubai, UAE.
History
- With the desire for a board for cricketers, Abe Bailey the President of South Africa’s cricket association 1907 wrote a letter to Marylebone cricket club in England secretary Lacey suggesting a need to form the imperial cricket board that will be saddled with the responsibility of the formulation of rules and ethos that will guide the international matches that will be played amongst Australia, England, and South Africa. The offer was rejected by Australian but Bailey was resilient. In 1912, the first-ever tri-test series was held in England. In 1926countries like the west indies, New Zealand, and India were elected as full members and by 1952 Pakistan joined making a sum total of 7 test-playing nations but sadly South Africa left the commonwealth and lost its membership.
- The association changed its name to the International cricket conference.
- Denmark, Bermuda, Netherlands, and East Africa was admitted as an associate in 1968
- ICC rules were amended in 1969.
- In 1989 the name was changed to international cricket council.
- In 1991, South Africa joined again after Apartheid.
- In 2005 ICC moved to Dubai as its new headquarter.
Rules And Regulations
- Just like a body is not devoid of laws, the council oversees playing conditions and other vital conditions. Only Melbourne cricket club may change governing laws. The body also has a code of conduct to which teams and players in international matches are required to observe sternly.
- Under ICC players may be fined, banned from a number of matches, or for life.
- The referee has the power to set penalties for grave offenses like betting, match-fixing, etc.
- In 2008, ICC imposed 19 penalties on players.
Regional Bodies
- The regional bodies of ICC include the Asian Cricket Council, European Cricket Council, African Cricket Association, ICC Americans, ICC East Asian-Pacific responsible for promoting, administration and developing cricket among their member countries.
- Asian Cricket Council was established in 1983, comprising of 24 member associates.
- European cricket council was formed in 1997, comprising mainly of 37 member associates.
- Comprising 22 members, the African Cricket association was formed in 1997
- Before the council of African Cricket was formed, Africa’s council as a whole was run by two distinct organizations, namely the East and Central Africa Cricket Conference and the West Africa Cricket Council.
- ICC Americans comprise 17 members
- ICC East Asia-Pacific was founded in 1996 but the regional office was established in 1999.
Salaries Of Cricketers From Around The World
- The Indian cricket team is one of the richest organizations that pay their players the greatest salary. England is the second richest cricket control board in the whole world. It is known for lavishly paying its players. While some players get a fixed amount, some pay test fees, some are paid retainers fees, and several bonus distributions.
- New Zealand cricket association pays their team a basic retainer fee of $20,000 and $8495 as fixed match fees.
- Australia provides their player with annual salaries based on contracts. The board provides bonuses to players based on excellent performance and title amount for every tournament the team wins
- Pakistan players have fixed basic salaries based on a registered contract of the players. For every test match, they get paid 1 lakh and are paid a 25% bonus for scoring a century, super amazing!
- An England player with a white ball contract is capable of making close to £300,000
ICC Members
- The council is made up of 12 members and about 94 governing bodies in countries where cricket is resolutely recognized and systematized. Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ireland played as associate members before gaining full membership.

All associate members were eligible to play in the World Cricket.
The associate member was granted one day international (ODI) status to its newly created ICC cricket, World cup Super League and ICC Cricket World Cup League.
5 ex-members who were expelled from the council are Morocco, Cuba, Brunei, Tonga, and Zambia.
In 2018, ICC announced T20I status for all members from 1 Jan. 2019.

Umpires
- The umpires are selected by international umpires and match referees who preside at all sanctioned Test matches, twenty 20 internationals, and One-day internationals. It comprises of 3 panels of umpires which are the Elite Panel, The Associate and Affiliate Panel, and the International Panel.
- The Elite panel became 11 members as of 2009
- The average annual, officiating schedule for Elite umpires is 12 Test matches, 1 ODI, and on filed work of 75 days per day.
- International Panel comprises of officials nominated respectively from the ten Test-playing cricket boards.
Controversy
- Despite the outstanding performance of cricket over the years, it is not free from scandals and diverse controversies. Be as it may, we cannot turn a blind eye to these controversies this is due to the fact that some controversies have created the character of the game over the years.
Shane Warne and Mark Waugh were found communicating with an Indian bookmarker under the false name of “John the bookmarker”. The Australian Cricket Board fined them and the issue was later casted-off.
Bob Woolmer, a Pakistan coach was died of what was believed a heart attack. According to Pathologist Dr. Ere Seshaiah, Bob was strangled to death.
After England lost a match to Australia, England management felt that Kevin Pieterson caused tension within the team’s dressing room and a fight exploded between Kevin and his teammates.
West indies atman was charged with an allegation following match-fixing. Marlon Samuels was connected with a bookmarker before an ODI against India in a telephone conversation between both of them.
World Ranking
- MRF Tyres ICC Player ranking referees to a table where international cricket players’ performance is ranked using point-based system which is operated out by a sequence of calculations resulting in an erudite moving average. The rating of players follows a 0-1000 points base. An improvement in the previous record guarantees an increase in point, vice versa.
MRF Tyres ICC is a rating method developed by David Kendrix.
Annual updates of matches, ODI takes place on 1 October every year.

Organizational Structure
- With the office of ICC being moved from London to Dubai in 2005 and closed the office at Lords and Monaco, the priorities of the game changed by the 21st century and only Australia and England still played test cricket to full houses. The aim of the movement was a bid to bring the main employees together in one tax-efficient location and to move it close to increasingly important new cricketing centers in South Asia. Being responsible for organizing diverse major international tournaments among members, associates, and affiliates.
Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar are Indian cricketers notable for displaying a good eye, robust wrist, stylish and exquisite batmen on the field in the history of cricket in the 21st century.
The present chairman of the ICC/IBC/IDI board is Greg Barclay and an independent female director called Indra Nooyi.

Funding
Funding for ICC most times comes from global events like Men and Women’s 50 over cricket over Cricket World Cups (CWC) and World Twenty20s (wT20) funds to members, associates, etc.
- While the majority comes from media rights, star sports, sponsorship, and lots more. $700m is in ICC’s budget for the period of 2015 to 2023.
