What is actually doing in Nice?
Barbra Banda already has a hat-trick as Zambia leads Australia 4-2 at half-time in the Matildas’ second Group B match in Nice.
Australia trails 4-2 to Zambia in the second Group B match of the Games after a chaotic first half, in which six goals were scored in just 46 minutes.

Not a typo. Five goals. Forty-six minutes. Here’s the breakdown of the goals so far:
- 1st minute: Barbra Banda (AUS 0-1 ZAM)
- 7th minute: Alanna Kennedy (AUS 1-1 ZAM)
- 22nd minute: Racheal Kundananji (AUS 1-2 ZAM)
- 33rd minute: Barbra Banda (AUS 1-3 ZAM)
- 35th minute: Hayley Raso (AUS 2-3 ZAM)
- 47th minutes: Barbra Banda (AUS 2-4 ZAM)
Frankly, that’s a lot more bullet points than I’d been expecting for a half-time update.

And needless to say Australia needs a miraculous comeback in the second half to get something out of this game. Remember, the Matildas were destroyed 3-0 by Germany in their opening match.
