Michigan State have been slammed for allowing Alante Brown back onto the field in Friday’s game against Central Michigan, after a sickening clash of heads and signs of concussion.
Brown needed to be carted off after appearing to fall to the ground in the fencing position – when arms lock in an unnatural position after impact on the brain – following a brutal clash of heads with Thomas Pannunzio.

The wide receiver was moving his legs and arms as the cart drove him off the field. According to the Detroit Free Press, Brown then got off the cart and walked ny himself to his X-rays. He then returned with 1:51 left in the first and returned a kickoff.
But Michigan are now under intensifying scrutiny on social media for the decision making that led to Brown making his way back out onto the field.
‘It is UNFATHOMABLE for Michigan State to allow Alante Brown back onto the field after this injury,’ the Concussion Legacy Foundation said on X.

‘Falling defenseless to the turf was an obvious sign of possible concussion. The consequences of second impact injuries are not worth the risk of returning.’
Chris Nowinski, who founded the Concussion Legacy Foundation and has been an outspoken critic over football’s concussion protocols, also spoke out.
‘HORRIBLE: Michigan State’s Alante Brown was allowed to return after showing a clear sign of #concussion,’ he wrote.
‘Failure to protect yourself when you spike your head on the ground usually means you are unconscious. College football needs independent doctors on the sideline.’
Brown was on the sideline, not in uniform, in the second half.
‘He was cleared to come back and then we took him out. Those are medical decisions that I support 100 percent,’ coach Mel Tucker said. ‘He’s in good spirits.’
Brown appeared to maintain he was ok and ready to play next week with a post on Instagram that said: ‘Appreciate the prayers. I’m all good! I’ll see y’all next Saturday’.
Michigan State’s next game is September 9 against Richmond.
