Kaya Walker, the former president of NYU’s College Republican club who resigned after she called President Donald Trump’s son Barron ‘oddity’ has now claimed that she did not mean it in a negative way. In an interview with the New York Post, Walker said she actually empathized with Barron Trump — how he’s watched like a zoo animal and how people post his pictures on Instagram whenever they spot him at the campus. Barron Trump studies at the Stern School of Business at NYU and stays at his New York home — which sets him apart from most of the students who reside on the campus.
Walker said she does not even personally know Barron Trump and in fact campaigned for Donald Trump being the president of the college Republican club. She was advised to resign by the College Republicans of America after a quote that she gave to Vanity Fair went viral and in the wrong context. The viral post made it look like as if Walker was calling Barron Trump weird for being a commuter but Walker said she herself travels to the college daily and by ‘oddity’, she meant how oddly he is being treated by other students.
“I just feel bad that he’s having this hard college experience, and I understand that he wants to be left alone,” Walker told The Post, clarifying her statement. “I don’t even know Baron Trump. I campaigned for his father. Why would I have any ill intent towards him?”
By hard college experience, she meant that the business school of NYU lacks a central social life.
After the viral post, Walker claimed that she and her family members were subjected to threats and nasty comments. The College Republicans of America said the comment was inappropriate and “does not align with the values and principles upheld” by the organization.

What is the Kaya Walker-Barron Trump controversy?
Walker gave a quote to Vanity Fair about Barron Trump “he goes to class, he goes home”. But Walker too lives with her family and not on the campus. The quote grabbed attention after AF Post highlighted that Walker called Barron Trump an “oddity on campus”.
