Kareena Kapoor, a Bollywood diva and sister to actress Karisma Kapoor, had shed light on the long-standing confusion regarding the pronunciation of her sister’s name. Kareena had revealed that many fans and media members have mispronounced Karisma’s name as “Ka-rish-ma,” when the correct pronunciation is actually “Ka-rizz-ma.”
In an interview with the BBC Asian Network, Kareena expressed her amusement at the ongoing confusion surrounding Karisma’s name. She explained that she often goes along with whatever the interviewer chooses to call her sister. “I am like… yeah, whatever. You love her, call her what you want. I think she’s also like… whatever… easy about it,” Kareena said, highlighting her sister’s laid-back attitude towards the mispronunciation.
Kareena further elaborated on why the confusion may have arisen in the first place. “A lot of people didn’t know, and they couldn’t pronounce because… What is Karisma versus Karishma? Karishma is like a miracle. I think she’s also like whatever you want to call me, but obviously, her name does not have an ‘H’ in it, and it is just Karisma on her passport,” she explained.
In a light-hearted suggestion to simplify matters for fans and the media alike, Kareena proposed that the safest way to refer to her sister would be to use her nickname, “I think we can just call her Lolo, that’s so much easier, right?” Kareena remarked. She emphasized that it is not about the name itself but rather the love and emotion behind it. “She’s so chill. It’s about love and emotion, but obviously, if you say what her name is in the passport, it is Karisma,” she concluded.
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor is preparing for the release of Hansal Mehta‘s eagerly awaited film, The Buckingham Murders, which is set to premiere in theaters on September 13, 2024. This intense thriller features an ensemble cast including Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. In addition to this, Kareena will also star in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, alongside Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone, further solidifying her presence in the film industry.
Meanwhile, Karisma Kapoor was last seen in the Murder Mubarak,a mystery-thriller directed by Homi Adajania, where she plays a sophisticated actress. Additionally, she is also judging India’s Best Dancer Season 4.
