The highly anticipated fourth film in the ‘Race’ franchise has fans buzzing with excitement. What has heightened the anticipation even more is the return of Saif Ali Khan to the series. Saif, who played the lead in the first two films, had been replaced by Salman Khan in Race 3, making his comeback a thrilling development for fans of the original movies.
Now, as per the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, The writer of ‘Race 4‘, Shiraz Ahmed, who also penned the first three films of the franchise, revealed that filming for the fourth installment is set to begin in January 2025.He mentioned that the script is nearly finished and that the casting process is also close to completion. While Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra have already been confirmed in the cast, he noted that the rest of the lineup would be disclosed by the producers, Tips Films, at the appropriate time with an official announcement.
Ahmed also discussed the story structure for Race 4, stating that the film will continue the narrative and characters from ‘Race 1’ and ‘Race 2’, returning to the familiar world of the earlier installments. Reflecting on the mixed reception of ‘Race 3’, he acknowledged that the film diverged somewhat from the franchise’s established characters. He noted that if viewers removed the title “Race” from the film, they might have enjoyed it more.
Ahmed added that audiences expected a certain experience from a Race film, but Race 3 offered something different. He explained that with Salman Khan in the cast, there were considerations regarding his image, as he typically does not take on negative roles, which shaped certain creative decisions. Despite these challenges, Ahmed expressed that they did their best to create an engaging film.
For the uninitiated, Saif was a key figure in the first two Race films. However, he was absent from the third installment, which starred Salman Khan, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Daisy Shah, among others. The last film in the Race franchise was released in 2018.
