Cricketer Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma posted angry notes as his privacy was breached by a fan who entered his hotel room and posted a video of the bedroom and showcased his belongings. Now, the hotel, Crown Towers in Perth, have issued a statement saying all individuals involved in this incident have been ‘stood down’ and they are working with the Indian men’s cricket team and ICC.

An enraged Kohli shared the video on Monday morning and wrote, “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment.” The cricketer’s accessories and luggage was put on display in the video.
Anushka also shared her disappointment and wondered where one can draw the line in face of such behaviour. Sharing a screenshot of the video, the actor wrote, “Have experienced a few incidents where some fans have shown no compassion or grace in the past but this really is the worst thing. An absolute disgrace and violation of a human being and anyone who sees this and thinks celebrity ho toh deal Karna padega should know that you are also part of the problem. Exercising some self control helps everyone. Also, if this is happening in your bedroom then where is the line?”

Crown Towers in Perth said in a statement, “We unreservedly apologise to the guest involved and will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure this remains an isolated incident. Crown has taken immediate steps to rectify the issue. The individuals involved have been stood down and removed from the Crown account, and the original video was swiftly removed from the social media platform”.
They added that an investigation is going on. “Crown is conducting an investigation with the third-party contractor and will take any further steps necessary to ensure an incident of this nature does not happen again. We are also cooperating with the Indian Cricket team and the International Cricket Council to convey our apologies and will continue to work with them as we progress the investigation,” it added.
Virat and Anushka have been very clear about drawing the line between private and public ever since they started dating. They have also requested the media not to share photos featuring daughter Vamika, contending she will take a decision what and how much to share once she is of age. When there have been transgressions, the couple has called out those out of the line.

“We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through,” the couple had said in a request to the media after their daughter’s birth.
