QAnon is a political conspiracy theory, that originated in America. This mass political movement revolves around baseless claims made by an anonymous person named Q. The believers of QAnon go by a theory that a satanic cabal exists in America that is involved in evil activities, including global child trafficking and sexual abuse. Several Hollywood celebrities and Democrats have been accused of being a part of the cabal, but the claims have been proved baseless by the experts. Trump has been put in the spotlight before for amplifying the movement against the opposite for his own political benefits.
We knew that QAnon is an anti-semitic movement, but in my opinion, this movement is heavily racist as well. QAnon has hijacked the tag name “Save The Children” for their movement. Save The Children has been a charity program for 100 years and has been clenching teeth to resist sexual abuse and child trafficking. This organization was founded in 1919 post World War I, to alleviate famine in Austria-Hungary and Germany.

According to research done by Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, QAnon has been hoarding mostly white children on their social media pages. The team says that the extent of racism that they found in the movement has disturbed them to their roots. Whereas, the reality is that the major sector of child trafficking has unfortunately taken place in the global South. The maximum percentage of children that QAnon posts about were blonde, bruised, and bound. Caucasian children were in the major spotlight of this movement to appeal to white suburban women who tend to lack the same degree of empathy for children of color. Out of 240 images that were cataloged after eliminating hundreds of duplicates, it was determined that 75 percent were Caucasian and only 2.4 percent were groups that included children of color alongside white children, which is alarmingly disturbing.
Out of 240 pictures, Asian and black children appeared only 9 times, and 12 out of 240 images were of Latinx children. This means, a total of 12 percent of images were of children who were not white. Whereas, the actual Save The Children Telegram page has posts where 79 out of 80 missing children were of color (which makes 98.75 percent). But the total does not end there, it was determined by the research team that the children of color, who were mentioned in the list were actual victims, taken from FBI notices and used for QAnon propaganda. Some of the children who were listed in QAnon posts were reported missing in 2016, which was way before QAnon existed. It is assumed that actual missing children were listed by them so that, if in case, anyone goes and searches about the child, they’ll find the kid’s name up there in the officially verified list, but the majority is not officially listed.
Other than that, QAnon has been posting pictures of child actors on their feed whom not many people might recognize as a popular face, such as Macaulay Culkin, Drew Barrymore, and Heather O’Rourke. They have been posting a series of posters in which a child is grabbed from the back and a hand covering their mouth, the problem is that in all the posters the hand was either of a black person or a brown person.

It is very crucial to highlight how evidently racist the QAnon movement is, as the conspiracy is now spreading like fire in Central and South America and parts of Africa, and also among the communities of color within the United States. Hopefully, if people of color understand the overt racism indulged in the movement as propaganda, they might get one more solid reason to resist the baseless movement accusing people who got nothing to do with what’s being claimed.
