CAA and the Delhi riot of 2020 in all aspects are connected with each other. The anger among the protesters who were protesting against the CAA bill was the main cause of the Delhi communal riots in the year 2020.
It was also noticed that most of the citizens lost their citizenship by losing their life and not because of the bill but because of the hatred which grew in the hearts of the people by the provocation of leaders who were just interested in disturbing the peace of the country by criticizing the government for its new amendment. This was taken into notice by the media when they asked a simple question to the people sitting in the protest by quoting that “do they even know what was CAA”, whose answer was not known by half of the people who were sitting in the CAA protest.

While on one side there was seen a deadly protest leading to communal riot, on the other side there were many signatories who came on the floor to show their support for the CAA or CAB amendment. This leads a statement to come in the midst of countrywide protests against this new citizenship law in which several students from various universities along with them some signatories to the statement which included Rajya Sabha members like Swapan Dasgupta, Shishir Bajoria, Chairman, IIM Shillong, Sunaina Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Nalanda University, JNU professor Ainul Hasan, Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, Senior Fellow, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies and journalist Kanchan Gupta. This statement was appealed to every section of the society in order to tell them that the ” CAA is amended to exercise restraint and therefore told protesters to not fall into the trap of propaganda, communalism, and anarchism which was spread by hater with the evil intention of disturbing the peace of the country ”. As it was noticed that there was deep anguish in the atmosphere in respect of fear and paranoia which was being created in the country through a deliberate obfuscation and fear-mongering, thus leading to violence in several parts of the country.
Therefore according to me, the bill was just for illegal migrants. And naturalized citizenship is still an option for all others who legally claim Indian citizenship, thus leaving all other illegal [immigrants] to be filtered. As there is “no country in the world who accepts illegal migration”.
A protest is the language of the unheard. So it should be limited to that only and should not be made a political stand. Thus this riot of Delhi had forced people to think about their actions twice before taking any stand. Therefore, “if we desire for respectable law then we must first respect the laws which are made”.
