Zoya Akhtar was in two minds over casting Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor in The Archies | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, who is soon going to release her version of The Archies, admitted to reconsidering the casting of star kids like Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda and Khushi Kapoor in the film. In an interview with India Today, she expressed discomfort with the idea of excluding someone from a role solely due to their famous parents. The movie marks the acting debut of Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s daughter) , Khushi Kapoor (Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter), and Agastya Nanda (Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s grandson).

Talking about it, Zoya mentioned that the thought did occur to her but then she told herself that she should not think on these lines as they were the best for the part and she should go ahead with her choices. She also shared that if people like their work, they will like the kids as well.
Zoya also revealed that when she looked at the three star kids and their auditions, they looked promising for the roles, so it would be very weird for her to not cast them.
‘It is weird to not cast someone because they are not famous, but it is equally weird to not cast someone because their parents are famous,’ she highlighted. On a final note, she mentioned that she simply went ahead with merit.
The Archies will also see newcomers like Mihir Ahuja, Yuvraj Menda, Vedang Raina and Aditi Dot Saigal.
