It’s a proud moment for the country as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a historic feat with Chandrayaan-3’s smooth landing on the moon. And Vindu Dara Singh couldn’t resist himself from reminiscing how his late father Dara Singh had imagined going to the moon two years before Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moonApollo 11 lunar module on July 20, 1969.
In 1967, Dara Singh had attempted to make a space movie with TP Sundaram titled Chand Par Chadayee, which was one of the first Bollywood films to depict space exploration and lunar mission. It was released in English with the title Trip to Moon.
The movie showcased Dara Singh as Astronaut Anand who makes his journey to the moon. During his mission, he gets attacked by moon men who kidnap him and take him as a prisoner on their spaceship. The movie also featured Padma Khanna, G Ratna and Anwar Hussain in pivotal roles.Congratulating ISRO on their historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3, Vindu told ETimes, “I’m so proud that dad had done a film Trip to Moon. At that time it was just an imagination and today it has turned out to be a real. Our first mission to the moon is actually successful. A dream come true and a proud moment for our country. It was amazing how they land on the moon. They took men out on the moon. Here it is just the vehicle but amazing.”
India’s Moon mission Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the lunar south pole at 6.04 pm on Wednesday, launching the country to an exclusive club of four and making it the first country to land on the uncharted surface.
With this touchdown on moon in second attempt in four years, India has become the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface after the US, China and the erstwhile Soviet Union.
