Initially, they felt confident about a solo release on Diwali, knowing the film would entertain audiences. However, with both films releasing on the same day, anxiety grew. On the first day, it felt like the release of his very first film. When Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 succeeded, they felt relieved that their 2.5 years of hard work had paid off.
The actor further shared his thoughts on the clash between big Bollywood films during festive seasons, especially Diwali. He mentioned that the holiday provided enough space for both films to succeed, as their genres—action and horror comedy—were very different. He felt Diwali was a great time for moviegoers, with enough screens and a festive mood, which helped balance the performance of both films. He noted that a regular Friday release might have posed a challenge for one of the films.
Kartik also highlighted the importance of box office performance in filmmaking, noting that it’s crucial for the business side of the industry. He explained that profits from one film allow filmmakers to invest in their next project, helping the industry keep progressing and growing.
He openly addressed the issue of inflated box office numbers, saying that while some filmmakers do it, others don’t, and it has become difficult to distinguish the truth. He added that today’s audiences are smart and use their own judgment rather than solely relying on box office numbers to decide which films to watch. Ultimately, he believes films will find their audience regardless.
