In an interview with Friday Talkies, Rawail reminisced about selecting Kajol for Bekhudi and Aishwarya for Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya.He mentioned that Kajol was chosen for her raw talent, while Aishwarya’s Miss World title and beauty were key factors in her selection. Rawail expressed his continued enthusiasm for working with newcomers, emphasizing his interest in discovering fresh talent.
Talking about Kajol’s journey to becoming a superstar, the director noted, “I would not say that I knew Kajol would be a star. I knew one thing that Kajol is a very good actress. But, she has become a star and she deserves what she has got. And she has not forgotten her early days.”
Regarding Aishwarya’s debut, Rawail recounted a conversation with a fan in London after the release of Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. A young man had told him that while Aishwarya was talented and beautiful, she seemed like someone he would want as a sister. This comment made Rawail reflect on the film’s impact. Despite Aishwarya’s stunning looks, the film did not perform well at the box office.

The movie also featured Bobby Deol in a leading role. Rawail explained that while Bobby was incredibly talented, his laid-back attitude affected his career. “Just after two hours of shoot, he would be like, ‘I am tired.’ That way he was very laid back. And his interest in all that was very less. But, I kept saying him he is a very good actor and will do very well, ‘pay attention’, and he would be like, ‘no, I am okay’, but finally he didn’t get any work. Then I don’t know what changed him around and I speak to him regularly and he is absolutely fantastic,” he shared.
While Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya didn’t succeed, Kajol received widespread acclaim for her role in Bekhudi in 1992.
