He elaborated and said that he has been after him to make a sequel to Special 26. He added that Neeraj keeps making multiple seasons of his web shows and he should make a second part of Special 26 too, because it deserves a sequel. He also jokingly added that it seems like Neeraj isn’t excited to make it! However, Kher was positive that it will happen soon.
Anupam Kher and Neeraj Pandey’s association goes back to 2008, when the duo had first collaborated on the critically acclaimed film, A Wednesday. Over the years, they worked together on multiple films together, like Baby (2015), MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and Aiyaary (2018), among many others. Anupam says that for him, it is always an instant ‘yes’ when Pandey approaches him for a role.
Earlier this year, the movie turned a decade old and Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher discussed the sequel.
To mark the occasion, actor Anupam Kher took to his Twitter account and wrote in Hindi, “Aaj hamari film #Special26 ko release hue 10 saal ho gaye. Maine hmaare honhaar director @neerajpofficial se kitni baar kaha ki wo iska Part-2 bnaye. Par ab aap hi batye #10YearsOfSpecial26 ka sequel banna chahiye ki nahi?”

To which Akshay replied, “I’m ready if the script is ready. Asli power script mein hoti hai.”
