Air India to launch non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick – Times of India

BENGALURU: Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), the operator of Kempegowda International Airport, has announced that Air India will begin non-stop services between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) starting on August 18, 2024. This new route will operate five times a week, enhancing connectivity for both business and leisure travelers.
With this development, Bengaluru becomes the first Indian city to offer direct flights to both of London’s largest airports – Heathrow and Gatwick.This move underscores the strong economic and cultural ties between India and the UK.
Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), expressed excitement about the new route. “We are thrilled about this new development, which strengthens our ongoing partnership with Air India and greatly enhances our connectivity to London. This new route will boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. London is one of our busiest long-haul markets, and the new service will allow our passengers to have a choice of airports in London to travel to. We look forward to adding more destinations to our network, thereby reinforcing our position as the Gateway to South and Central India.”
Campbell Wilson, chief executive officer & managing director of Air India, added, “This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations, and strengthens our commitment to expanding our global network.”
Air India will operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on this route, featuring 18 flat beds in Business class and 238 spacious seats in Economy. This new service will meet the increasing demand for travel between Bengaluru and London, offering passengers convenient and direct flight options.
This route aligns with Bengaluru Airport’s vision to provide world-class travel experiences and strengthen its role as a key gateway for international travel. Travelers are encouraged to take advantage of this convenient new route and experience the seamless travel options now available from Bengaluru Airport.
