Since the enactment of the Domestic Violence Act in 2005, there have been ample of cases in which the women who were tortured be it for any reason related to dowry, sexually, etc by their husbands received Justice but as usual, there have been instances where the women have been found alleging their husbands in a false case rendering their self-esteem in front of the society. Except for using the rights as a safeguarding tool, many women have taken these rights as a tool for blackmail or extortion purpose. In false cases of demand for dowry or physical abuse or sexual abuse, there are chances to get acquitted from the court, but the person would be considered as an abuser in front of the society because of the societal norms of considering men as a violator.
A recent example of such a case was the accusation filed by Amber Heard regarding physical abuse by Johnny Depp. Due to these false charges Johnny Depp had to not only face a loss of his respect from the society but this he also had to face a huge economical loss of around $23 million which included the loss of trust of the various brands and directors who withdraw their contract with him.

Looking at the benefit of the laws doesn’t mean we can overlook the loopholes in the laws which women use at times on an innocent man. The laws are stricter for males in this country compared to women in such cases, at times women easily get away too from the crime. Looking at the example of the “Boys Locker Room Case”, the women were set free with just a warning. So, it’s not wrong in saying that women sometimes do sabotage their own rights.
