Bee farming is one of the ancient arts of apiculture in India and honey in terms of nutrition is highly recommended by many nutritionists and doctors. Nowadays when honey is in very rapidly growing demand, the market is chasing only those manufacturers who are selling pure honey at affordable rates. Due to this desirable demand for honey, the government of India has taken some steps towards the well-being of our honey-producing sector “the bee farmers”. in the year 2016 prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi launched a revolutionary scheme in India which is known as the “Sweet Revolution.” It was launched with the objective of increasing the income of farmers and this will encourage others to step into bee farming. In 2017 to support the sweet revolution, Khadi and Village Industries Commission launched Honey Mission in August. This mission was initiated to educate the farmers about the better techniques of bee farming and the easiest way to purify the honey by spending less money, also to create a marketing network for selling the honey and related products which were produced by the farmers. The cost of honey production is very unreasonable because of transportation costs and other irrelevant expenses. After Khadi Village and Industries Commission developed India’s first “Mobile Honey Processing Van” all the irrelevant expenses become redundant because the van does all the necessary work like collecting honey from farmers reaching their doorsteps, purification of honey, final testing, and so on. It has also been noted that under Honey Mission KVIC distributed 8000 bee boxes to the farmers which will help them in doubling their income. The government has also released an action plan to aid the mission. Talking about some stats, due to the efforts put in by government authorities for the well-being of the agriculture sector, the rate of honey production in India has increased and also the rate of export has jumped up exceptionally. If a country wants to grow big and become one of the leading territories, their government should focus on the primary sector or manufacturing sector it will help in boosting the economy from the roots. If our government moves forward while supporting and backing up every sector from ground level to the upper level, there’s no doubt that India will rule the market of every high demanding commodity. Sweet Revolution is one successful step towards a brand new world and growth farmer of community.
