Fleeing from the state of Rakhine, Rohingya refugees got a bitter response overall, when it came to the question of their long-lasting settlement elsewhere. India, with her vast history and tradition of refugee tolerance, has given entry to thousands of Rohingya refugees over a period of time. These numbers of refugees however kept on growing since 2012 to 2017, owing to the reason why it has become a matter of question whether these refugees are good for India, or it is just the beginning of a deliberate threat to India’s national interest. The Rohingya refugees have settled in different parts of the world as suitable with a number of almost 40,000 refugees living in India. As Myanmar has yet not accepted the Rohingyas as one of their ethnic groups, the problem of these refugees illegally settling in different countries still persist.

Though India is not liable to accept the Rohingya refugees in vast numbers, it is however a fact that owing to be the largest democracy in the world and powerful in the region, India in the end holds some kind of liability to offer help regarding the displacement of these refugees. According to the customary law by the United Nations, refugees cannot be sent back or deported to the region where they might be facing intolerance, discrimination or any other kind of persecution. The arrival of the Rohingya refugees in India might result in social, political and cultural radicalization. These very causes might result into a threat to India’s national interest. The Rohingya refugees are in need of humanitarian help, and so far, they hold an identity card from the UNHCR, indicating their refugee status.
Considering India’s response to the Rohingya crisis and her democratic rule with a tradition of managing refugees, India allowed the Rohingya people in few numbers which ultimately grew unto 40,000 indicating the potential of their growth in our nation. This growth however can lead to different socio-economic and cultural along with political influxes causing a territorial issue to the citizens of India. It is quite a concern that the Islamist terrorist groups might pose an influence, over these stateless people who have been significantly subjected to rejection and abandonment. It is also a fact that the basic blocks of idea about jihad in Rohingya refugees are no different than that of the terrorist groups who want to establish an all-Islamic state. The Rohingya refugees are extremists with a history of relation with the Pakistani terror groups. Thus, these refugees are prime resources for terror groups to inculcate massacre in near future. The demographic view of India is also under great pressure and allowing the Rohingya refugees will further disrupt the pattern. Also, the fact that they practiced hate and massacre on innocent Hindus in the Kha Maung Seik villages, prove the point that allowing these refugees to live in India can pose great threat to the cultural and social patterns along with political and economic disturbances.
These are deliberately the reasons why, Rohingya refugees are a disruption to the internal, social and political structure or pattern of India, hence Rohingya refugees are not particularly, a good news for India.
